"The process of evaluating contractors to finish a basement is a daunting task for most homeowners. You want to make sure you find someone that is skilled, pays attention to details, prioritizes your project, but is also reasonably priced. I'm familiar with swinging hammers, running electrical, mudding and drywall, but at this scale would have taken me at least a year to complete this project on my own. That still wouldn't have garunteed it would be done right or done at all! That's why I decided to hire a contractor to oversee the entire project and minimize my headaches. Best decision I could have made. First up let's talk about time. My wife needed about 250 sqft office for her small growing business. I needed a small office with a closet. We also added a media/family room and a bathroom. One of the issues we had was that the builders of our home used multiple post to hold up the floor instead of one longer beam. Chris replaced this beam for us and eliminated two of the post so we could have the exact layout we wanted. The only delay we had was no fault of Chris, the structural engineer had a death in the family and couldn't make it out. Chris estimated our project to take three months from start to finish, but he showed up every day and even asked if he could work weekends to stay on schedule. He finished the project in two months beating his estimate by a significant amount. Price. This is what you are all here for. We got several quotes some were extremely lowballed around 26k and the highest was 72k. Chris priced our project were we felt was reasonable. He is by no means the cheapest, but he was not the most expensive either... he came in just right. We believe we paid for the quality we received and are happy. Final thoughts. Overall we are extremely happy with our basement. It was done right, finished ahead of schedule, I got to bother someone new for two months (atleast that's what my wife said.)
